How did the leader resolve the situation? Was the approach authoritative, consultative, or group? Explain

In this unit, you are examining the decision making process. Nutt (2005) defines organizational decision making as that which takes place when a person in authority does the following: (1) identifies an important issue, (2) carries out a process that results in a choice, and (3) the choice creates an outcome with consequences.

With this in mind, find an example of a situation where a leader was presented with a dilemma where he or she had to make a decision. This can be based on a case study, recent news event, an organization’s website, or something you find in research literature (journals). Make sure you use an example not already used by a classmate.

Once you have found your example, create a response that addresses the following:

What is the basic situation? What are the factors that are in play? ( Note: Do not spend the majority of your post giving this summary. Be very brief. The next two components are the most important.)
How did the leader resolve the situation? Was the approach authoritative, consultative, or group? Explain.
Do you think the leader made the right decision? Why or why not?
